As you know, one of the main focuses of my work is to educate people seeking to become parents, practitioners, doctors, and IVF specialists…. and basically anyone involved in reproductive medicine as a patient or professional… about the importance of folate and MTHFR on reproductive outcomes.
When assess a patient, the first two things I ask myself are:
1. What is their ability to MAKE active folate, and
2. What is their ability to USE active folate?
The best way to figure out the answer to #1 is via genetics and nutrition.
But finding the answers to number 2 is a little trickier.
Do you want to know what a MAJOR factor that stops people from using the folate their body makes OR the supplements they take, is?
MOULD (If you’re in the USA, this is how us Aussie’s spell Mold 😊)
Mould can produce mycotoxins that inhibit the uptake of folate.
Lately, we have noticed a significant increase in the number of fertility patients who have experienced recurrent miscarriage with excessive mould in their body.
The majority of these people don’t ever remember being exposed to it.
But it needs to be removed from the body.
Mould can also increase the risk for autism, ADHD and other behavioural problems in offspring.
