The first step to having a healthy baby is ensuring your fertility levels are at their best. This applies to both parties and, if you involve a surrogate, it applies to her as well.
In my book I focus heavily on pre-conception preparation which is also where fertility issues are addressed and reset.
For men this involves sperm health, numbers and quality.
For women this involves oocyte health, balanced hormones and a healthy uterus.
Sounds simple enough but, unfortunately, there are many people whose parameters are far from what is considered healthy.
What do you need to do?
Once you decide that you may like to have a baby, first steps are to check your health and speak to either your GP or a qualified naturopath trained in fertility. Without testing it is difficult to identify where attention may be required.
Hormonal imbalances/deficiencies or other conditions such as PCOS or endometriosis need to be addressed by a qualified health professional.
The biggest obstacle I see in clinic is that once a couple have decided they want to have a baby, they want it NOW. Often reluctant to undertake assessment and preparation, they tend to return months later seeking help when “it” just isn’t happening. Had they committed to the preconception preparation, they could have been well underway in their goal to become parents.
Be patient. After all you are preparing for perhaps the biggest thing you will ever do – the creation of a new human being.
You will find all the information you need in my book so get your copy today and start your journey to creating a wonderful healthy baby.
