
Anyone who has every experienced interrupted sleep or suffered from chronic insomnia, will appreciate the importance of its restorative actions. We need to sleep. Just how many hours of sleep are required for optimal health remains undecided in the research. But, what research does agree on is that we all need daily quality, restorative sleep. Some people do very well on seven hours while others need between eight to ten hours. Teenagers can need up to twelve hours.
There are many factors that can disturb sleep quality, but perhaps one that you have not considered is your gut health. A disturbed microbiome has been shown to significantly impact sleep quality and quantity.
