Electronic Devices and EMF
In my book, How to Have a Healthy Baby, I discuss stress and its negative impacts on health and fertility. In addition to the “obvious” stressors such as physical and emotional trauma, we are all exposed to a constant and pervasive invisible source of stress: electromagnetic frequencies or EMF.
EMF are emitted from mobile phone towers and electronic devices. The obvious devices are mobile phones, laptops, computers etc, but we tend to forget the WiFi technology that has found its way into our homes and cars.
Do you have any of the following in your home:
Smart TV WiFi router Wireless speakers, headphones, keyboard, mouse, printer, game consoles Smart watch Baby monitors Any smart technology such as lighting, surveillance, locks Power tools, washing machine, dryer Cordless landline telephone, or An electric car?
I doubt very much that many people could answer “no” to all the above. Once you are aware of all the EMF sources in your life, what do you do about it?
There are a few simple tips to reduce exposure. These include:
Turning WiFi OFF when not in use, but especially at night to avoid interfering with sleep – especially sleep of babies and toddlers. Turn OFF Bluetooth and mobile phone data connectivity when not in use. Distance – decrease your exposure by increasing your distance from wireless emitting sources. For example, always keep mobile phones and wireless devices away from your body.
This is especially relevant for babies and toddlers. Rethink how you use mobile phones when you are near children. Children’s skulls are thinner than adults’ and their brains are still developing. Hence, radiation from mobile phones penetrates more deeply into their brains and is likely to cause more damage. For example, do not use a mobile phone while an infant is on your lap, and do not carry your mobile phone in your baby carrier. Keep a transmitting mobile phone or wireless device away from a child’s brain and body – especially when that baby is inside you.
We have come to rely on all these modern devices and they have become entrenched in our lives so we need to learn how to use them as safely as possible – for more information visit https://ehtrust.org/educate-yourself/ten-steps-to-safe-tech/
