One of the most frequent questions I get asked is How do I improve my fertility?
My response to this is two-fold:
1. Eat a varied, whole food, organic diet which includes protein in each meal. Stable blood sugar is essential for balanced hormones and regular ovulation, and protein (and fat) help prevent the glucose swings that disrupt both. These foods also supply the nutrients your hormone production and reproductive organs need most. Since protein is incredibly satiating, it also naturally reduces how much ultra-processed foods and added sugars that people eat. Getting enough protein can make a surprisingly powerful difference in cycle regularity, ovulation, and overall well being.
2. Eliminate toxic chemicals from your environment, which is also why I highly recommend sourcing certified organic produce. Most of the chemicals we ingest come from our food – soils are treated with synthetic fertilisers, plants are sprayed with highly toxic herbicides and pesticides, animals are fed GMO grains (corn, soy) and treated with high doses of antibiotics. All of these chemicals make their way into your body if you consume commercially produced food. Not to mention the hundreds of artificial additives in ultra-processed products.
